The Tikiyaki Orch. Performs for Squid Retrospective [8/20/08]
Saturday, Sept. 20th, at Kona restaurant in Huntington Beach was a swingin' night for everyone. The dining room was packed with Hawaiian print shirts and the smell of dark rum as The Tikiyaki Orchestra took the stage. The night was a celebration of the work of tiki artist and sculptor extraordinaire, Squid (aka Dave Cohen). Examples of the talented tentacles of Squid
abounded. Kona's special tiki-fied room, the Hidden Village, was crammed full of examples of the tiki mugs created by Squid. Over 140 mugs were proudly displayed along side a plethora of sketches and ink drawings made at various points in Squid's career.

Mahalo to everyone who attended!!

Now Available!
The newest album "Swingin' Sounds for the Jungel Jetset"- blending ultra-hip 60's lounge, swanky Exotica and Surf textures to create a unique soundscape of far away lands and cocktail toting jetsetters.

The Tikiyaki Orchestra is a musical experience unlike any other today. Utilizing a unique combination of sounds...smooth, mellow vibraphone, twanging, reverb-drenched surf guitar, pulsating theater organ, lilting Hawaiian steel guitar, bongos, congas, and an arsenal of exotic perucssion from around the world, all set against the sounds of the ocean and jungle. The Tikiayki Orchestra transports the audience to a place and time when Cantonese food was "exotic cuisine" and people escaped the mundane with the aid of strong, sweet rum-based cocktails served in tiki mugs with little colorful umbrellas.. i.e. Waikiki in 1955.

Evoking the sprit of past masters such as Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman and Les Baxter, the Tikiyaki Orchestra performs original material from their CD "StereoExotique', written by award winning composer and band leader Jim Bacchi, as well as classic of Exotica, traditional Hawaiian, lounge, surf, spy jazz and cocktail genres.

If you are ready, let Tikiyaki Orchestra light the Tiki torches and take you on an exotic journey you will never forget.
